LACERA Commission Chambers

LACERA, Los Angeles, CA

Design and Installation

Challenge:

The Los Angeles County Employee Retirement Association (LACERA), one of the nation's largest support organizations of its kind, sought to revamp the audio video technology of their multi-purpose council meeting room. The primary focus of this project would be to enable effective communications on issues impacting member retirement and financial benefits. Our company was tasked with designing and integrating user-friendly technology for retirees, in addition to upgrading the electronic member voting space.

Solution:

Our design and engineering teams developed an integration design that would deliver an improved presentation forum for both the Board of Directors and client retirees. Multiple ceiling mounted 40" plasma displays were strategically positioned throughout the Commission Chambers, allowing attendees to view proceedings from anywhere in the room without obstruction. Additional flat panel displays were built into the executive board dais to allow for the effective viewing of member presentations. The redesigned features would also enable each of the 12 board members to access all AV display sources and voting results from their individual locations.

Working closely with LACERA's IT team, we created a customized member voting program that allowed for expanded capabilities in tabulating, recording and monitoring board member voting results. While complex in functionality, great care was taken to create a code and corresponding touch panel pages that administrative support personnel found easy to operate.

Equipment Highlights:

Control system; customized voting software; digital projectors; videoconferencing codec; interactive whiteboards; audio mixers
